Eligibility criteria

All the students studying in class 9, 10, 11 and 12 are eligible to participate in KIIT NMO.

Syllabus

The syllabus for KIIT NMO is strictly as per the syllabus prescribed by the NCERT for respective classes. The contents of the syllabus are listed below:

Class IX: Number Systems, Polynomials, Linear Equations in Two Variables, Introduction to Euclid’s Geometry, Coordinate Geometry, Lines and Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Areas of Parallelograms and Triangles, Constructions, Circles, Surface Areas and Volumes, Heron’s Formula, Probability, Statistics.

Class X: Real Numbers, Polynomials, Pair of Linear Equations in Two Variables,Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progressions Triangles, Coordinate Geometry, Introduction to Trigonometry, Circles, Constructions, Areas Related to Circles, Surface Areas and Volumes, Some Applications of Trigonometry, Statistics, Probability.

Class XI: Sets, Relations and Functions, Linear In-equations, Logarithms, Complex Numbers & Quadratic Equations, Limits and Derivatives, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry, Straight Lines, Circles, Principle of Mathematical Induction, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, Probability, Conic Sections, Introduction to 3-D Geometry.

Class XII: Relations and Functions, Matrices and Determinants, Integrals, Inverse Trigonometric Functions, Application of Derivatives, Application of Integrals, Continuity and Differentiability, Three Dimensional Geometry, Vector Algebra, Differential Equations, Probability, Linear Programming.

Question Pattern

  1. The Olympiad will consist of 50 MCQs with one correct answer each. The question paper will have four sections namely:
  • Section A – Cognitive Reasoning
  • Section B – Mathematical Reasoning
  • Section C – General Mathematics
  • Section D – Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)

The detailed contents for each section are mentioned in the syllabus for each class level in the following section.

Negative Marking:

l   Section 1, 2 and 3: For each wrong answer 1/3 marks assigned to the question will be deducted.

l   Section 4: For each wrong answer 2/3 marks assigned to the question will be deducted.

 

Exam format

ü  Online, remote (home) proctored exam. Students will be writing the exam remotely from a location of their convenience (home, library, school’s computer lab, internet cafe etc. in their respective places).

ü  The students must use a laptop/computer enabled with camera and sound to take the exam. Appearing in the exam through mobile phone is not allowed.

ü  If anyone is found doing so, his/her candidature will stand canceled.
